Job purpose

The Graphic Designer and Communications Specialist will be will be part of a team delivering a major security and justice programme in Lebanon. She/he will be in charge of supporting the Programme Manager regarding external communications and to support production and design of PROJECT communication material and content. The individual will need to produce engaging, informative, and relevant presentation materials in support of project activity on short notice. They will provide creative direction, graphic design and brand management for Siren through a variety of media including print publications, online presence, multimedia and animation. The individual will also advise on the broader communication strategy of the programme.


Graphical design

  • Create and maintain a high quality, unified visual identity that permeates Siren’s visual identity (print, Web, multimedia, site branding). Provide graphic design and formatting for Siren’s core publications, work closely with departments to assist in branding, design and production of various collaterals as needed. Design and coordination of deliverables for conferences, events, etc.
  • Produce infographics, presentations, reports, training material and other print and digital materials
  • Conceptualize and design visuals based on requirements in an engaging, easily understood format
  • Develop infographics, images and layouts using design software

Website Content Management and Social Media Channels 

  • The Graphic Designer will play a leading role in the visual design and development of the programme’s web presence as well as social media platforms
  • Manage the design and development of a programme website
  • Manage programme social media channels
  • Design and implement a web content management strategy; ensure it is regularly updated with quality content
  • Ensure website member portal and full website backend technically maintained
  • Design and implement a social media strategy; ensure updated regularly with quality content showcasing programme progress and achievements


  • Maintain an adequate supply of still photo images for use on the Siren’s Web site and in print publications, either by direct photography, by sourcing and acquiring appropriate commercial image galleries, or by arranging photo shoots with an external production company
  • Either directly film or coordinate with external vendors to film and edit Siren’s events/interviews for Web multimedia placement, and maintain an organized record of footage


  • Build and maintain a strong online presence for the programme in the form of video and audio downloads (Webcasting, podcasting, etc.)
  • Design and produce e-newsletters or e-mail shots
  • Design and produce simple animated Flash presentations

Communication Management

  • Develop a programme Communications Strategy
  • Develop and maintain a communications toolkit consisting of standard, programme-branded templates for letters, reports, PowerPoint presentations, e-mails signatures etc.
  • Ensure that all external communications are approved by the Programme Manager


  • Monitor events of relevance for programme
  • Provide communications advice and support to the programme programme management on preparing material and speeches for events

Person Specification
  • Degree in Graphic Design or related field
  • Solid, demonstrable experience in the use of design software (such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop or other similar tools)
  • A strong portfolio of infographics or other designs
  • Experience developing infographics and designing reports and PowerPoints for public consumption
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details.
  • Excellent command of written, read and spoken Arabic and English
  • Creative, with strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and perform well under-pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good internal and external relationships
  • Experience working in development and/or public sector reform is preferable
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
