RESEARCH

We use social science research techniques to deliver solution-driven analysis that informs our work. Our research focused consulting services combine rigorous analytical methods with a strong, long-term local presence to ensure our research is tailored to local conditions and evolving dynamics.

Stakeholder and conflict analyses

We produce rapid situational analyses as well as gender-sensitive conflict analyses that set out how the power dynamics and gender norms of a given context fuel conflict and instability, and the measures and red lines that should be incorporated into programming to transform those conflict drivers and promote sustainable peace. We also survey the operational landscape of our partners to understand the different interests of stakeholders, their influence on our partners’ ability to reach objectives, and the best way to engage with them.

System and process analyses

We conduct strategic reviews, capacity assessments and gap analyses of organisations to understand where decision making authority lies, how the existing systems and processes operate, and the level of resourcing and talent. Using a broad range of analytic frameworks, we then work with our partners to synthesise and analyse this information to identify needs, risks, and entry points, to inform our intervention design.

Policy and legal analyses

We assess and analyse the extent to which public and organisational policies deliver against their stated objectives and are compliant with relevant legislation and conventions. We also map the legal frameworks structuring public systems and processes, and analyse the degree to which they serve the public interest and encourage institutions to be transparent, accountable and responsive to the communities they serve.

CHANGE MANAGEMENT

We provide a range of capacity building and consulting services to support organisations through the entire transformation process. From helping to set strategy, to short-order deployment of trainers and specialists across a wide range of disciplines, to the in-house design of fit-for-purpose facilities, we offer partners a truly integrated, top-to-bottom solution-kit.

Strategic planning and leadership advising

We help our partners identify the barriers holding their organisation back, articulate where they would like it to be going, and design a corresponding change management strategy. We then support their implementation of that strategy, offering ongoing advice and mentorship to key change champions to ensure the appropriate systems and structures are set up to communicate the planned to change to stakeholders, and monitor and evaluate institutional transformation. In this way, our teams support leaders to make the tough decisions that will drive institutional transformation and allow energy and resources to be focused around organisational objectives.

Training and mentoring

In support of sustainable organisational growth or in complement to a system-wide change management strategy, we help our partners identify training needs, design a training system, and eventually implement it with their own trainers. Our partners are then capable of driving the long term up-skilling of their workforce, having built their capacity to assess training needs, develop training programmes and expand them as needs evolve.

We have expertise in conducting rapid analyses of training needs; tailoring training delivery across a range of disciplines; delivering training-of-trainers packages; conducting evaluations and assessments of the long term uptake of skills, attitudes, and behaviours; providing one-on-one mentoring to mid-management so that individuals can sustainably drive change within their departments; and supporting the development of full-scale training systems and structures at an organisational level.

We support our partners to engage with and work in partnership with external stakeholders where collaboration and coordination is necessary. Our teams offer support around developing stakeholder engagement plans, and designing and implementing recommendations on how to work together effectively. Where possible, we use digital technologies to bring stakeholders together and enable partnership working.

Technology doesn’t just enable change, it drives it. As such, digital solutions form a key component of our consulting services. We recognise the challenge of sustainably introducing customised, client-driven digital applications in low-resource, fragile settings and therefore integrate them within our broader organisational transformation approach via our sister company, Siren Analytics.
